Candle Usage Guide
Using candles at home is not only about providing light and decoration; it also enhances relaxation, meditation, and aromatherapy experiences. However, using candles correctly is essential for both your safety and the candle’s performance. Here are a few basic tips and recommendations:
First, always place candles on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Preventing the surface underneath from overheating protects your furniture and ensures the candle burns safely. It is also crucial to keep candles out of reach of small children and pets for safety reasons.
When lighting your candle for the first time, trim the wick to approximately 0.5 cm (¼ inch). Long wicks can produce smoke and prevent the candle from burning evenly. During use, make sure the wick remains centered and upright. Avoid placing candles in drafty areas, as airflow can cause uneven burning and excess smoke.
Soy candles, with their natural and toxin-free composition, are especially ideal for aromatherapy. However, regardless of the type of candle you use, limiting burn time to 2–3 hours helps extend the candle’s lifespan and increases safety. Instead of blowing out a candle, use a wick snuffer or a metal tool such as a spoon to extinguish it—this reduces smoke and unwanted odors.
To maintain the fragrance and burning quality of your candles, pay attention to storage conditions. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Aromatic candles containing essential oils may lose their scent if stored improperly.
Finally, if you are using candles during aromatherapy or meditation rituals, ensure the entire environment is safe and avoid engaging in distracting activities while they are burning. Candles do more than illuminate a space; when used correctly, they become a powerful tool for calming the mind and balancing energy.
Although candle use may seem simple, small details make the experience both safe and effective. With high-quality materials such as soy wax and ceramic vessels, you can create a safe, healthy, and peaceful atmosphere in your home.
